Jesus: The Bolt that keeps it together

It was an amazing message at church today and I am so anticipating the new series our pastor is bringing on in the next few weeks. The main theme today was to build your home on Jesus...not the church...not on money....not on the kids themselves...JESUS. I am longing for my home to do this.
I started to approach it like this today. James was having a melt down. I am not sure why except he wanted to put his shoes on by himself and couldn't keep them buckled. I asked him twice if I could help. He told me NO and continued to whine and cry. Finally he just started throwing a fit. I placed him on the step and took the shoes away. He began the tantrum. It was horrible. I scooped him up and held him. I told him calmly I loved him and Daddy loved him. I told him quietly in his ear as he was quieting down that Jesus loved him and he wanted him to calm down and not be so upset. I told James...lets pray. I quick simple prayer: Dear Jesus help Birdy to calm down and be a good boy. Amen. I tell you the truth. He relaxed and was a better kid. It would have been easy to get in a battle with him but I felt the Lord tugging at me on this. I am trying to make God be the bolt. So ready for the change God is going to breathe on our family.

You Pee???

My boys have talking about peeing on the potty for the past few weeks. They follow all people to the bathroom and interview. "You pee, mom? You poopie, dad." They are fascinated by flushing. They tell us when they go and make a bee line for the bathroom door saying, "I pee on potty." So with all this at 19 months I decided it was time to get a potty. I did not feel ready. Now don't get me wrong I am ready to stop buying diapers. I just feel like my boys are growing too fast. They went to sleep the other night without their binki's! They talk a mile a minute. Nothing gets by them. Quick as whistle. Anyways...my mom bought a potty to have at her house. She pulls it out today and they are all about it. They are getting on it and fighting over who gets on it. So i tell them they can take their pants off and get on. Birdie goes first. He gets on and boom pees in the potty. We have a party and he is so proud. Nate goes next and Bam...pees on the potty! These boys are quick! So needless to say... I will buy two potties tomorrow and this Presidents Day Weekend will be spent working on the potty!!! Luving this life...but they are too big too fast!!!
